Buyer – Seller meet at IHDP

Over the last few months, the export-oriented sectors have witnessed a slump mainly due to global economic slow down and currency fluctuation. These tough times have forced the industry to explore options that can help them in getting back some share of lost business. Retail sector is providing to be one such option; the segment that is seeing rapid growth is attracting many new players. It is expected that the Rs 54,000 crore domestic market would achieve growth of around 100% in couple of years.
   
Realizing this, a buyer-seller meet was recently organized at IHDP (International Home Deco Park), Noida where in exporters, manufacturers and supplies from India and abroad participating and displayed a wide range of home fashion products for domestic retail. The product range included floor coverings, decorative top of beds, pillow covers, brassware, glassware, metalware, and handicrafts.
   
The event that was conducted for the first time at IHDP received good response from both the of the buyers seen at the event. “I have visited IHDP for the first time and found the concept very interesting, however, the place and concept needs to be exposed well so that more people can avail this facility better,” said Rohit Gupta, CEO, Pradesh Agencies that sources home furnishing products from India and China. Manu Berry from ‘Something Else’ Buying Agents said, “It was a great experience as we saw some very interesting collections and made some new contacts also.”

The fair targeted domestic market, many buyers were looking for goods matching export market also. Ikea, Weca, Metro Group, Pradesh, Indiska, William-e-Connor, Alliance and International Group were some of the buyers seen at the event.
 
The event saw participation from the visitors and participants. It was reported that 120 buyers from 63 companies, retailers and buying agents attended the event and contemplated different home fashion concepts. The event attracted well known brands and retailers like Shoppers Stop, FMCL Stores, Ishatvam, Good Earth and Atmosphere.
 
Though the fair targeted domestic market, many buyers were looking for goods matching export market also. Ikea, Weca, Metro Group, Pradesh, Indiska, William-e-Connor, Alliance and International Group were some around 42 companies that include names like Sharda Exports, Champo Carpets, Jaipur Rugs, Sorogeeka Exim, Studio Vision, Spartan Trends and Chinar India. Tarun Bhargava from Chinar India was happy with the turnaround of buyers and said, “IHDP is a very good concept. However, it is required that such events are organized more frequently, also. It is important to promote these events on a very big scale.” Added Ashish Popli from Studio Vision, “Buyers who came here showed interest in products for the both the export and retail market, we met some buyers from the hotel industry also which is definitely a positive indication.”
 
Companies which participated included not only the permanent showroom owners from India but companies from abroad also. “I feel that this is a very good platform to showcase our wide range. This is why we decided to participate at the last moment,” said Jaideep Desai, Regional Manager, Riedel, an Australian based company that specializes in manufacturing glassware, crystalware and glass accessories and has brands like Natchmann, Spigelau and Oneida.
 
Moreover, Studio Vision and Tequila Shots showcased unique concepts of trading and marketing which is an important aspect of business today. “A good product cannot sell if it is not present properly and this is where Tequila Shots comes into picture,” said Shiraz Chaand from Tequila Shots. ‘Tequila Shots’ fulfils the professional photography requirements of manufacturers and retailers of home décor products. The studio claims to be flexible and versatile in its range of projects, taking up everything from simple low-budget jobs to highly creative brand impact projects on turnkey basis. Shiraz further added, “The response has been good. There are many enquiries and exhibitors and visitors have appreciated the concept of Tequila Shots.”
 
On this occasion Aditya Gupta, Co-founder IHDP announced another International Buyer-Seller meet between Oct 15 – 18 which is expected to bring around 40 manufacturers and buyers from India and abroad.
